From an Employee to a Team Player

The phrase ‘team player’ is not only related to sports teams; it is now well-versed in all the fields. A team player is someone with a good personality who makes constructive contributions and has the drive to motivate everyone around him or her. Teamwork is nothing but working together with fellow companions to achieve a common goal. The quality of being a team player is something that every employer looks for within his/her employees. To be specific, teamwork is the basic need for an organization to function and you are more likely to be hired in the business world if you possess and demonstrate the qualities of a team player.

Let us check some qualities an employee should possess to be a team player.

  1. Understands own role

As a team member, one should be fully aware of his/her role and work dedicatedly to meet the targets. He/she should communicate with other team members and politely ask for help if he/she gets stuck anywhere rather than avoiding it intentionally.

  1. Collaborative

Working with team members means there will be a communication of varying opinions and ideas. Respecting and listening to others’ opinions will make one much more acceptable within a team and therefore a healthy environment will sustain collaborative works.

  1. Be accountable for your own deeds and flexible

Take responsibility for your own mistakes and look for solutions. Understand how your actions impact the entire group. Look at every opportunity as a chance to learn.

  1. Positive attitude

Maintaining a positive attitude even during stressful times helps the rest of your teamwork through that difficult time without getting upset. Your positive attitude will create a healthy atmosphere.

Advantages of being a team player:

  1. Teamwork brings creativity

Business always needs creative ideas. When all the members of a team operate at an equate level, people tend to be more open about their ideas. If an employee of a team shares his opinion with his teammates without any fear, it will be a success for the team.

  1. Teamwork helps to solve the major problems

Teamwork is always helpful to solve an acute problem. If any problem occurs teamwork can solve that. Collaboration within a group can help solve difficult problems. Teamwork is the perfect place where everyone can exchange their ideas with each other and which will be helpful to solve problems.

  1. Teamwork makes you supportive

If any problem occurs like your one team member falls others will recoup that by doing the work together. It ensures that deadlines are met and the work will be of high quality. By doing the work together it becomes faster than doing the whole work all alone.

  1. Teamwork contributes to revenue generation

At the end of the day profit or revenue matters for any company or organization. With the proper division of responsibilities, every person on the team puts in an equal effort so that the other teammates are not burdened and the workflow can remain smooth and in the hour of need, everyone comes up with creative ideas to make a project work successfully.

The booming Ed-tech Industry

After the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, with the closure of educational institutions, a boost for creating an alternate system of traditional education has been observed. The pandemic has also highlighted the need to create a strong online environment to provide sustainability in learning. As a result, the opening up of the Ed-tech industry has been accelerated. The educational landscape of India has been changed with the constant development of new age education. The increasing availability of the Internet with affordable data packages created a demand for quality education through various online learning platforms. The Ed-tech industry is currently booming as all educational institutions are adopting a hybrid approach for learning. The use of technology in education is an important step in this direction. As a result, the need for the opening up of the Ed-tech industry in the country has been increased in order to move ahead and keep up with the global trends.
A broader Ed-tech policy should focus on four key elements -- providing access to learning, especially to disadvantaged groups activating the teaching, learning, and evaluation process facilitating teacher training and continuous professional development including the planning, management, and monitoring processes. The Ed-tech industry enhances educational productivity with standard learning design to deliver better quality education. The recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 further encourage the government’s policy priorities for online education. The policy envisages technology as an integral part of education planning, management, administration, teaching, learning, assessment, teachers’ training, and professional development. One of its recommendations is to apply technology in education through app-based learning, online student communities, and lesson delivery beyond ‘chalk and talk.’
The Ed-tech industry has modernized our education system positively. Students can learn according to their speed, style and learning capacity. Studying online encourages students to start their own learning as well as transforms them into active and lifelong learners. Various institutions are already leveraging Ed-tech platforms to aid their own learning curriculum. Through Ed-tech industry, a student from a remote area also gets a chance to learn from the best teachers. The courses provide the liberty to learners to personalize the process of learning and to choose the content or course of their interest and demand. This has led to an accelerated shift towards career-oriented learning, up-skilling and reskilling using online platforms. Students can experience interactive classrooms, individualistic guidance and doubt clearing sessions. App-based Ed-tech platforms provide mobile accessibility which is an easier and cheaper medium for students than using desktop or laptop. These apps can also be used to conduct tests, assign work and submit assignments, and even assess the delivery and final understanding. Students can also watch the recorded video of classes. Teachers are using many learning tools and use various graphics and pictures to make the lesson easier for students. With such a setup, students will get opportunities to engage better in their online classroom. Education powered via technology as an enabler is becoming more multifaceted, flexible, inclusive, and affordable. Technology will support efficient, transparent, personalized, scalable, and accountable systems which will provide the best learning experiences.
The booming Ed-tech industry also creates job opportunities leading to extensive hiring. As the role of the teacher moved from merely delivering content to focusing more time on mentoring students, these platforms give teachers the tools to focus on the students.

The dynamic role of an educator

An educator is the one who gets the most out of the lessons and the true teacher is the learner. The time has come to switch from a teaching centered on the actions of the teacher to a dynamic learning method, centered on the actions of the pupils. This means that the pupils are active, are involved in what they are learning. An educator has a most influencing and dynamic role in his/her students’ lives. The role of an educator in encouraging support of the student’s atonomy, relevance and relatedness of the materials, increase motivation to learn. As students are motivated to learn, they are more likely to achieve the goals set for them either by themselves or by their educator. Generally, the role of an educator in education goes beyond teaching. In today’s world teaching has different faces, and a teacher has to carry out the part of being an external parent, counselor mentor, role model and so on.

Sharing Knowledge: First thing first, the primary duty of an educator is to impart knowledge, and that comes from teaching. Teaching usually entails following a specific curriculum and ensuring that the students understand what is being taught.

Monitor: No direct evidence of this role from lesson notes, but it is possible teacher may need to take on this role at any time in the lesson checking.

Role Model: Students look to teachers as examples of professional adults. They often have more contact with their teachers than their own parents, so it’s important for teachers to always reflect a positive image and teach student things like respect, trust and responsibility. A teacher can do this through his actions and words in the classroom, learning by example.

Guide: An educator must act as a guide and in order to do this must be non-judgemental and objective, not letting their values affect how they treat students. They must offer help and support where they can, identify the needs of the individual.

An External Parent: The role of a teacher transcends following a specific lesson plan and work schedule. Because both students and teachers spend as much time together, the teacher inadvertently becomes an external parent.

A Catalyst for Change: Teachers, leaders can also be catalysts for change, only those become visionaries who are “never content with the status but rather always looking for a better way”.

Teacher as a Behavior Counselor: A large part of teaching involves coaching and mentoring related to social skills and behavior. Teachers work day in and day out with students to develop their abilities related to optimal social skills, behavior and emotional intelligence.

Final Thoughts: The teacher’s role in the classroom, society and the world at large, have taken a different turn from what it was back in the day. Over time, teachers were given a specific curriculum to follow as well as for instructions on how to go about teaching the curriculum.

Our Achievers Speak Of Our Success

Maintaining good relationships with alumni over time is crucial to the success of higher-end institutions. Alumni serve many valuable roles, such as helping to build and grow an institution’s brand through word-of-mouth marketing. For instance, positive posts on social media can create buzz and increase application rates. Colleges also rely on alumni to provide mentoring, internships, and career opportunities to students.

The word is Latin and simply means student. The plural is alumni for men and mixed groups and alumnae for women. An alumnus or alumna is a former student and most often a graduate of an educational institution (school, college, university). The term alumnae are used in conjunction with either or a female group of students. The term alumni are used in conjunction with either men's colleges, a group of students, or a mixed group of students.

RICE Education thanks its students and alumni sincerely for their continued trust; hard work and dedication that has made RICE a household name in Bengal. By joining the RICE Alumni Network, you will forever be part of the RICE Family and strengthen the network that will connect this brotherhood of bureaucrats and administrators.

Being a RICE alumnus also comes with certain benefits:

  • Invitation to attend key seminars and knowledge sessions organized by RICE Education and Adamas University.
  • Scholarship to do Executive Education programs launched by Adamas University.
  • Special privilege in Fee Structure in admitting children into Adamas University/Adamas International School/Adamas World School.
  • Chance to be part of RICE CSR activities and make a difference.

Looking at the record of success of the last 37 years, it is clear that Rice Education has got the opportunity to create a large number of high-quality alumni networks. Not only that, there is a continuous effort to utilize this network to further improve the training and assessment infrastructure of our students.

Almost every year Rice Education gets the opportunity to welcome our esteemed alumni through the "Rice Convocation" festival. The current students of the institution are looking forward to the festival, while the alumni are taking some time off from their precious time to participate in the festival. The current students sitting in a row can see their future by seeing it through the eyes of the successful ones. Learn the secrets of their success from alumni and enrich themselves through important advice from successful people.

Alumni are the brand ambassadors of the institution they graduated from. We have seen many institutions declaring the list of their notable alumni as a way of connecting their successes with what the college has provided them. However, in this era of social networking, the connection with our past students doesn't stop with this. Institutions have realized how a strong and positive relationship with their alumni can benefit them socially, academically, and professionally. Likewise, even the alumni community has realized that it's not just a mere nostalgia that they associate their alma-mater with, but it's much beyond that.

In the early future, it also seeks to create alumni clubs using the more prosperous alumni network in the future, disseminating the message of alumni working as bureaucrats in various fields through social media to current students and creating new platforms so that current students can keep in touch with alumni regularly.

Our Delightful Journey with our Outstanding Alumni

RICE has been building a record of success for decades in the field of Competitive Examinations. The success of RICE from West Bengal in any kind of competitive examinations in the state or central government is unprecedented. This authentic truth has prolonged the steady growth of RICE over the years. There is no administrative area in the central government or especially in the state government where a trained candidate from RICS is not working as a bureaucrat or as an employee. Such a history has not been possible for any other educational institution in the entire state. The statistics of our success is the only source of our improvement over time.

Statistics Show Success

We can take a look at some examples of this. In 2016, 472 candidates passed the WBCS examination conducted by the State Public Service Commission, out of which 106 were trained candidates from RICE. In 2017, there were 249 final successful candidates, of which 39 were trained candidates from RICE. In 2019, there were 6 successful candidates for the post of SI of West Bengal Police, out of which 56 were trained from RICE. Out of a total of 1540 successful candidates in the PSC Miscellaneous Examination, more than 130 candidates have been trained by RICE.

Some of our recent successful stars have their own reactions

Susmita Mukherjee Chattopadhyay:

RICE had helped me a lot to achieve success in the school service commission exam. All the teachers were quite cooperative and without them, I would not be able to achieve my goal. I had to work hard a lot to qualify for this tough exam.

Siv Tshering Sherpa:

After completing my graduation I was working as a teacher in Bihar. My sisters decided that I should join Wbcs coaching in Siliguri RICE and then I joined in 2016. 10th of April 2016 was my first day in class and till then I had no idea what it was actually, what I knew was it was some exam that makes a BDO. Studying and gaining knowledge was so much fun and the fun multiplied when we teamed up for studying. With the proper guidance of the RICE faculties and resources thus provided I was able to crack the WBCS 2017 exam as a Revenue Officer. I was often against faculties and their teaching but it was just the beginners' immaturity and as time passed I started appreciating their efforts. My special mention goes to Kingsukh Sir, (English) one of the most gentle, smart, motivating, knowledgeable people I have ever met. Working hard was the only skill I had.

SOURAV CHATTOPADHYAY:

I got attracted towards government jobs in the first place because of the opportunity  that it creates to serve one’s nation at various capacities and secondly, because of the job security and social prestige that a government employee attains. My family has also been into government service since decades motivated me towards choosing Govt. service as a career option and the only name that struck my mind was RICE while choosing a platform for preparing to crack the assessments. RICE with its systematically designed courses, learned trainers, apt infrastructure and cordial ambience has encouraged me to be a go-getter.

Rinku Sinha Roy:

I feel proud to say that I am the first lady superintendent of the Eastern Railway. I embarked upon this prestigious journey in the year 1994 by joining RICE as an aspirant. With RICE on my side I not only attained success in cracking Railway examination but I also excelled in other competitive examination like Banking, Income Tax etc. I give all credits to my mentor Prof. Samit Ray and all my other trainers and my parents for guiding me and supporting me throughout my life.

Shrikanta Raja:

My Dad was in defense, so from a young age, I thought I would walk this path too. But in the struggle to fulfill the dream, I realized how difficult the path is. Then I found RICE. Preparations began differently. And then the job in SI post became possible. Now everyone is very happy, proud of me.

Gourav Roy:

My grandparents were all policemen. So from a young age, I had a dream that I would also be a policeman. I grew up under the siege of the regime. After becoming an SI in RICE training, everyone in the house is happy at the moment, because I am the fourth generation in the house to do a police job. It will take the family trend forward.

We strive for the Best

From Siliguri to Malda, from Asansol to Diamond Harbor, RICE picks up thousands of students every year from every corner of the state. Their own ability and with it the advice and quality guidance of our experienced faculty members continues to create a record of success every year. RICE is continuing its efforts to set an example in all fields of government jobs including railway, banks, PSCs, SSCs in upcoming years.

In current COVID situation, RICE Education has launched its new product RICE Smart, an app-based platform for online teaching, for the preparation of government job exams. The RICE Smart app is the only option when the scope of offline class is limited in this situation. Although this smart, modern, online app-based study is useful for better time management, its method is basically virtual. Usually in such an education system, study materials are usually provided to aspirants in PDF format and to go through these materials candidates have to use mobile or computer screens beyond the stipulated class times. So, the overall enhancement in screen time is affecting the candidates in an adverse way. To avoid greater screen time, taking print outs of these study materials becomes costly for the candidates. Therefore, to alleviate the burden, RICE is going to hand over printed study materials to RICE Smart candidates.

From our childhood days, we are used to study with books in hand. The eyes feel a lot more comfortable reading from the pages of the book. As a result, one can concentrate on studying for a long time which is very important for the success at any stage. However, in unprecedented situation we are currently facing, it is obvious that the students are facing different problems to become habituated with the new era of virtual education spending hours with open eyes in front of computer or mobile screen. Doctors and scientists have also warned that greater screen time causes severe damage to the eyes.

But e-learning is currently gaining significance in all respects and it cannot be ignored. In addition to online demonstrations, simultaneously, if the book is open in front of you, the lesson will be vividly remembered. Marking or leaving notes on the pages of the book is a good practice of studying. As he/she reads books over and over again, his/her subjects seemed to be like a picture in front of his eyes. Even if it is marked on screen, it is much more convenient for books. Thus, the learning becomes effective in memory when tests are conducted.

A book is the name of confidence, which, if held in hand, gives you the conviction to pass all exams. RICE cares not only for students to include them in the curriculum but also think about their advantages and healthy mind-sets. From its 37 years of long experience in providing excellent training to govt. job aspirants, this institution knows the importance of printed books. Therefore, in addition to online teaching and recorded classes, the printed study materials will surely boost the candidates achieve their goals.

Don’t waste your time. Join RICE today.
