Age Eligibility

According to the last notification released by Calcutta High Court for LDA recruitment 2018, the age of the candidates should be not below 18 years and not more than 40 years on 01.01.2018.

Concession in age

  • C. & S.T. candidates (of West Bengal only) can get an age relaxation of 5 years.
  • In the case of Persons with Disabilities (PWD), the upper age limit is relaxable upto 45 years.
  • Candidates who belong to Ex-serviceman sub-category are eligible for upper age relaxation as per the existing Government Rules.
  • Date of birth as‌ ‌recorded‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌‌Madhyamik‌ ‌or‌ ‌equivalent‌ examination certificate issued by any recognised Board/ Council will ‌only‌ be accepted.

 

The SC/ST/OBC candidates of other States shall be treated as General candidates.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed in the Higher Secondary Examination (12th standard) from West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or its Equivalent examination from a recognized Council/ Board.
  • Additionally, the aspirants must have knowledge in vernacular of the State.

Exam Stages

The exam is used to be conducted in 3 phases as mentioned below.

  • Preliminary Screening Test (Stage-I)
  • Competitive Written Test (Stage-II)
  • Viva-voce Test (Stage-III)

 

The complete exam pattern of LDA in High Court recruitment is discussed below.

 

Preliminary Screening Test

  • The exam consists of only one paper (OMR based) containing 100 questions carrying 1 mark each.
  • The time duration of the exam is 90 minutes.
  • The questions shall be available in English language only.
  • There shall be negative marking of one (1) mark for each wrong answer.
  • The Prelims Test is only a screening exam for the selection of candidates for admission to the Competitive Written Test.
  • The marks obtained in the Prelims Test will not be considered for next stages.

Competitive Written Test

  • Candidates selected and shortlisted in the Preliminary Screening Test (OMR based) should have to appear in a Competitive Written Test.
  • The questions will be from i) Arithmetic, ii) English essay and Précis writing and iii) General Knowledge.
  • Each subject shall carry hundred (100) marks, aggregating to three hundred (300) marks
  • The duration of Competitive Written Test shall be of 3 hours in single seating.
  • Candidates securing 40% marks in each of the 3 subjects and 50% in the aggregate will be considered to have passed the Competitive Written Test.

 

Viva-Voce Test

  • Candidates securing qualifying marks and selected in order of merit shall be required to appear at viva-voce test of 100 marks.
  • The marks obtained in Competitive Written Test and viva-voce test shall be considered at the time of preparing final merit list.

Salary

According to the last notification released by Calcutta High Court for LDA recruitment 2018, the pay scale is PB-02 of Rs. (5,400/- to 25,200/-) with minimum pay Rs. 6,570/- with Grade Pay Rs. 2,600/- along with other allowances as admissible under the relevant rules.
