The Public Service Commission conduct CLERKSHIP Examination on the result of which recruitment is made for clerical posts (lower division assistant or lower division clerk and post similar to that of lower division assistant or lower division clerk in the Secretariat, Directorates, District offices and similar posts) under Government of Examination.

Latest update and result of PSC CLERKSHIP

  • WBPSC Clerkship Part-1 result 2019-20 is out. 66491 candidates are shortlisted for appearing Part-II examination.

 

In continuation to the Commission’s Notice No. 71-Con/PSC dt. 30.09.2021 regarding Clerkship Examination, 2019, the Commission has decided to call 9693 candidates of different categories in order of merit from the merit list published under the Commission’s aforesaid Notice dt. 30.09.2021 to appear for Computer Type Test as per schedule to be fixed by the Commission in due course. The list of 9693 candidates is given in Annexure-A. Candidates are being called in the ratio of 1:1.4 against vacancies in the respective categories in order of merit. All candidates securing the same marks as that of the last selected candidate of that particular category have been called for the Computer Type Test. Candidates will appear in Computer Type Test subject to their being eligible after document verification. Candidates have to qualify in the Computer Type Test to be eligible for being enlisted in the Final Merit List subject to the condition that the candidates will fulfill the eligibility criteria as stipulated in clause 4 of the advertisement No. 05/2019 [ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for those candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali) vide Finance Dept. Notification No. 1243-F(P) dt. 02.03.2016]. Recommendation will be made from the Final Merit List as per available vacancies in the respective categories. It may be noted that mere appearance in the Computer Type Test and/or qualifying in the same does not guarantee employment/appointment. Before the Computer Type Test, verification of documents will be undertaken in online mode. Candidates will have to upload their documents by accessing the link at https://wbpsc.examsonline.co.in between 12.00 noon on 22.12.2021 and 12.00 midnight on 05.01.2022. Instructions for uploading of documents are given at Annexure-B and Annexure-C below. If any candidate fails to upload relevant documents within the stipulated date and time, it would be presumed that the candidate is not interested to take part in the Computer Type Test and his/her candidature will not be considered for the Final Merit List, irrespective of marks obtained in written examination, without any further reference to him/her The following documents will have to be scanned and uploaded at https://wbpsc.examsonline.co.in in between 22.12.2021 and 05.01.2022. (i) Recent passport sized coloured photograph. (ii) Govt. photo identity proof (Aadhaar/EPIC/Passport/Driving Licence) (iii) Admit Card of Madhyamik/equivalent examination showing the date of birth and language(s) studied. (iv) Certificate & Mark sheet confirming passing of Madhyamik or its equivalent from a recognized Board/Council. (v) SC/ST/OBC Certificate, if applicable. (vi) Current ‘NCL’ certificate (for OBC candidates only). (vii) Certificate/relevant document confirming Meritorious Sport persons/Ex-Servicemen, if applicable. (viii) PWD certificate, if applicable. F. All the documents mentioned above will have to be produced before a Group-A Govt. officer and a certificate in the format prescribed at ‘Annexure-C’ will have to be obtained from the officer and uploaded at “https://wbpsc.examsonline.co.in” along with the scanned copies of the above certificates/documents.

Dt. 16/12/2021 regarding Clerkship Examination, 2019, the Commission has decided to extend the closing date of uploading the documents by accessing the link at https://wbpsc.examsonline.co.in by another 7 days i.e. up to 12.00 midnight of 12.01.2022 considering the prevailing pandemic situation. All other terms of the Notice No. 103 P.S.C./Con Dt. 16/12/2021 remain the same

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING PSC CLERKSHIP EXAMINATION, 2019:

The link for the list given below, displays the roll numbers of 1213 candidates who have not uploaded the documents as per Commission’s Notice No. 103 P.S.C./Con Dt. 16/12/2021. It is accordingly presumed that the candidates are not interested to take part in the Computer Type Test and their candidature will not be considered for the Final Merit List, irrespective of marks obtained in written examination, without any further reference to him/her. Commission has decided to hold the Computer based type test of the eligible candidates tentatively on 26.03.2022 and 27.03.2022 in multiple shifts in venues across Kolkata.

List of ineligible Candidates due to inadequate documentation, Schedule and venue of Computer based Type Test, Evaluation Criterion, General Instructions and Guidelines, link for online typing practice etc. will be notified to the candidates in due course.

Qualifications

The qualification for direct recruitment shall be as follows :

  1. Pass in Madhyamik examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent.
  2. Acquisition of elementary knowledge in Computer operation with ability of typing on computer at the speed of 20 (twenty) words per minute in English or 10 (ten) words per minute in Bengali.

Age

Not below 18 years but not more than 40 years as on 01.01.2019 (i.e. born not earlier than 2nd January, 1979 and not later than 1st January, 2001).

Concession in age :

The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for S.C. & S.T. candidates and by 3 years for B.C. (non-creamy layer) candidates. In the case of Persons with Disabilities (PWD), the upper age limit is relaxable upto 45 years. No relaxation is applicable to S.C./S.T./B.C. candidates of other States as they shall be treated as general candidates. Upper age limit is also relaxable for ExServicemen who have put in not less than six months’ continuous service in any rank (whether as a Combatant or as a NonCombatant ) in the Armed Forces of the Union. Such Ex- Servicemen shall be allowed to deduct the period of such service from his actual age and if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit prescribed for the post/service for which he seeks appointment by more than 3(three) years, he shall be deemed to have satisfied the condition regarding age limit.

Eligibility Criterion

  1. The candidate must be (a) A citizen of India (either natural or by registration), or (b) Such other nationals as declared eligible by the Govt. of India. Provided that a candidate belonging to category (b) shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government.
  2. Ability to read, write and speak in Bengali (not required for those candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali) – vide Finance Department’s Notification No.1243-F(P) dated 02.03.2016.

Fee

Rs.110/- (Rupees one hundred ten) only + Service Charge 1% of Examination Fee subject to a minimum of Rs.5/- (Rupees Five) only for online payment through debit/credit card plus service charge as applicable as Govt. Duty or Service Charge of Rs.5/- (Rupees Five) only for Net Banking or Service Charge of Rs.20/- (Rupees Twenty) only for payment through Bank Counter (off-line payment).

SC/ST candidates of West Bengal and Persons with disabilities (PWD) having physical disability of 40% and above are not required to pay any fee. BC (non-creamy layer) candidates of West Bengal are, however, required to pay usual fee as aforesaid. NO EXEMPTION OF FEE IS AVAILABLE TO SC/ST/BC CANDIDATES OF OTHER STATES. No claim for refund of the fee will be entertained nor will it be held in reserve for any other examination.

Syllabus for the Examination

Part -I :

English : Fundamentals of the English language such as vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage etc.

General Studies : Matters of everyday observation including everyday science, current events and problems with special reference to India and elementary knowledge of Indian History and Indian Geography.

Arithmetic : Divisibility, fractions, decimals, recurring decimals, simplification, HCF, LCM, Partnership, Average, Ratio and proportions, percentage, simple interest, profit & loss, time & distance, area of rectangles and squares.

Part-II :

Group-A : English

  1. a) Drafting of a report in English from points or materials supplied
  2. b) Condensing of a prose passage (Summary/Precis)
  3. c) Translation from Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali/Santali, as the case may be, into English

Group-B : Bengali/Hindi/Urdu/Nepali/Santali :
