The Excise SI examination is conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board. The process of the examination is divided into five steps. Candidates should qualify each stage to appear the next one.

The applicant must be able to speak, read and write in Bengali/ Nepali. The competence of candidates in Bengali/ Nepali language will be tested at the Preliminary Written Test.
Selection Process is divided into two steps, Preliminary Exam and Mains Exam.

Personality Test
A limited number of candidates selected merit-wise on the results of Final Examination will be called for the Personality Test. The candidates who fail to secure minimum pass mark in the personality test will be disqualified irrespective of the marks obtained by them in the Final Combined Competitive Examination.
