Preliminary Exam Syllabus (100 Marks):
The selection process for the Lower Division Assistant (LDA) position consists of the following stages:
Stage 1: Preliminary Screening Test
• Name of Test: Preliminary Screening Test
• Marks: 100
• Duration: 1 Hour 30 Minutes
• Syllabus: Arithmetic, General Intelligence, General Knowledge, and Computer Proficiency, English
• Important Information: The question paper will be objective type with 100 questions, each carrying 1 mark. There will be a negative marking of one mark for each wrong answer. The language of the LDA Question Paper will be in English only. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Screening Test will not be considered for further stages of the selection process.
Stage 2: Competitive Written Test
• Name of Test: Competitive Written Test
• Marks: 300
• Duration: 3 Hours
• Syllabus: Arithmetic (100 Marks), English essay and précis writing (100 Marks), General Knowledge (100 Marks)
• Important Information: The written exam will be conducted in English, and it will have objective multiple-choice questions (MCQs). To qualify, candidates must score a minimum of 40% marks in each subject and an aggregate minimum of 50% marks.
Stage 3: Viva
• Marks: 100

Calcutta HC LDA Salary Scale: Pay Scale of Rs. 5,400 – 25,200 with Grade Pay of Rs. 2,600 and minimum Pay – Rs. 6,570.

Eligibility Criteria for this exam is that the candidate must be a citizen of India. The candidate's age should be between 21 years and 30 years of age in order to appear for this examination.
A type speed of 20 words per minute should be achieved using software such as NVDA, JAWS, ORCA, or SNLTR's Speech Enabled Baisakhi Keyboard. According to conventional standards, deaf and hard of hearing individuals should be able to type at least 20 words per minute in English or 10 words per minute in Bengali.
There will be a one-point deduction for each incorrect answer. The LDA Question Paper will only be available in English. The Preliminary Screening Test marks will not be considered for further stages of the selection process.
