Selected candidates for Excise SI positions will be paid in accordance with existing regulations. Pay Level - 8 on the Pay scale [Rs. 7,100 - 37,600/-]
• The salary pay level is 10
• The basic pay is Rs. 32,100
• The House Rent Allowance (HRA) (12% of the Basic Pay) is Rs. 3852/-
• Dearness Allowance (DA): Rs. 963/- ( 3% of Basic Pay)
• Medical Allowance: Rs. 500/-
• New Monthly Gross Salary: Rs. 37,415/- (without increment & Special Allowance)

Candidates must be between the ages of 20 years and 40 years in order to sit for the WB Excise SI Examination.

WB Excise SI’s aid in the prevention of smuggling and ensure that the government collects the necessary taxes and fees. An excise inspector may work at a desk or in the field. When an excise inspector is entitled to work on the desk, he or she responsible for all kinds of clerical work, such as preparing, verifying, and validating documents.

The eligibility criteria to appear for the WB Excise SI Recruitment Examination 2023:
a) Education Qualification
The candidate must hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized university in any discipline.
b) Age Limit
Candidates must be between the ages of 20 years and 40 years.

The examination consists of multiple choice questions, the paper is of OMR type, and the exam lasts for one hour. The total weightage of the exam is 90 marks. Negative marking is present in the exam, and 0.25 marks is deducted for each incorrect answer.

The distance covered by both male and female candidates in the long run of the WBP Excise SI Exam are as follows:
• Male candidates for the position of Sub-Inspector of Excise need to complete a long run of 800 meters in three minutes
• Female candidates for the position of Lady Excise Sub-Inspector need to complete a run of 400 meters in two minutes.

The duration for the WBP Excise SI Exam is one hour.

Male candidates need to have a height of 167 cm (except Gorkhas, Rajbansis and Schedule Tribes). Male candidates from Gorkhas, Rajbansis and Schedule Tribes have a height requirement of 160 cm. Similarly female candidates need to have a height of 160 cm except candidates from Gorkhas, Rajbansis and Schedule Tribes.
