Educational Qualification

The applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Science from a recognized University equivalent with at least one of the following subjects-Agriculture, Botany, Engineering (Agriculture /Chemical/Civil/Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical), Forestry, Geology, Horticulture, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Zoology or Honours Certificate holder from any of the Government Forest Rangers College Provided he/she is sponsored by State/Union Territories.

Exam Pattern

The examination is conducted in three phases namely,

  1. Preliminary (200 marks)
  2. Mains (700 marks)
  3. Personality Test (70 marks)
  4. Preliminary Examination Pattern:
  • The Preliminary Examination will consist of only one paper viz. a paper on “General Studies”.
  • The Preliminary Examination is a screening test only to select candidates for the Main Examination. The marks obtained in this examination by the candidates will not be considered for preparing final merit list.
  • The paper will be of an Objective Type consisting of 200 Multiple Choice Question.
  • The paper will carry 200 marks and will be of two and half (2½) hours duration.
  • There shall be negative marking of ¼ (one-fourth) of the marks assigned to that question for each wrong answer/multiple answers.
  • The standard of the paper will be of the level of knowledge as expected of a graduate of any faculty of the recognized University.

On the basis of result of Main Examination candidates will be called for Personality Test. The final selection will be made in order of merit on the basis of the marks obtained by a candidate in the Mains Examination in aggregate and by adding the marks obtained in the Personality Test.
