According to the last notification released by RRB for NTPC 2019 Exam, the age eligibilities for different posts are provided below.

  1. For 7th CPC Level-2 and 3 (Under Graduate Level Posts), the date of birth of candidates should be between the dates given below (both dates inclusive):

  • Date of birth as‌ ‌recorded‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌Matriculation/SSLC/Xth class‌or‌ ‌equivalent‌ ‌certificate, will ‌only‌ be accepted.
  • No age relaxation is allowed to SC/ST/OBC-NCL (Non Creamy Layer) candidates applying against unreserved vacancies.
  • PwBD candidates applying against UR vacancies will be allowed age relaxation applicable for UR PwBD only.
  • If a candidate is eligible for relaxation of age on more than one ground, he/she would be accorded the highest of the age relaxations for which he/she is eligible.

Percentage/Marks

As per the last notification released by RRB NTPC for 2019 Exam, the Board will adopt a new procedure known as ‘normalization of marks’ for multi-session CBT stages. For detailed normalization scheme, the candidates are requested to go through the RRB official website.

 However, the minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories: UR-40%, EWS-40%, OBC (Non creamy layer)-30%, SC-30%, ST-25%. These percentages of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates in case of shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.

Exam Stages

  • It is a two stage Computer Based Test (CBT) followed by Skill Test (Computer based Aptitude Test for Station Master and Traffic Assistant, Typing Skill Test for Junior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist and Senior Time Keeper). Next, document verification and medical examination take place.
  • For Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial
    • cum Ticket Clerk, Commercial Apprentice, it is a two stage CBT followed by document verification and medical examination.

 

The complete exam pattern for RRB NTPC is discussed below.

 

1st Stage CBT

  • It is a common computer based test for all the posts and it is of screening nature.
  • There will be 1/3 mark negative marking for each wrong answer.

2nd Stage CBT

  • Separate computer based tests will be conducted for each of the 7th CPC level with graded difficulty.
  • All posts under the same level of 7th CPC shall have a common 2nd stage computer based test.
  • The normalized marks obtained by the candidates in the 1st stage CBT and the options for various posts given by them keeping in view their educational qualifications will be deciding one to get shortlisted for 2nd stage CBT.
  • There will be 1/3 mark negative marking for each wrong answer.

Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

  • After 2nd stage CBT there is another stage only for those candidates who have opted for the posts namely, Traffic Assistant (TA) and Station Master (SM).
  • Candidates need to qualify in each test batteries of CBAT.
  • There is no negative marking in CBAT.
  • The candidates need to secure a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify. This is applicable to all candidates irrespective of community or category i.e. irrespective of SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/PwBD/Ex SM and no relaxation in the minimum T- Score is permissible.
  • Shortlisted candidates must produce original vision certificate as per Annexure VI during CBAT.

 

Typing Skill Test

  • For the posts Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Time Keeper, Typing Skill Test (TST) of qualifying nature (marks obtained in typing skill test shall not be added for making merit) shall be conducted.
  • Typing speed has to be 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi on personal computer only having no editing tool and spell check facility.
  • Shortlisting will be done on the basis of qualification in Typing Skill Test or performance in 2nd stage CBT for Typing Skill Test exempted PwBD candidates.

 

Document Verification

  • Based on the performance of candidates in 2nd stage CBT and based on the performance of candidates in both 2nd stage CBT and CBAT/TST (as applicable), candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for Document Verification as per their merit and options.
  • In addition, candidates equal to 50% (may increase or decrease at the discretion of RRBs) of the number of vacancy for various posts will also be called for document verification.

How to Apply

  • Candidates have to fill the form in online once the official notification comes out for that particular year using their mobile number and e-mail ID.
  • Candidates can apply for the posts of any one RRB as per their eligibility and they need visit the specific website of that particular RRB of their choice for filling the application.
  • Before form fill up the aspirants are requested to thoroughly go through official notification.
  • Candidates need to keep ready the scanned photograph (JPEG image, 20-50 KB) and signature (JPEG image, 10-40 KB) before logging in.
  • SC/ST candidates seeking free travel pass need to upload JPEG image (50-100 KB) of their certificates.
  • Scribe photo (JPEG image, 20-50 KB) needs to be uploaded wherever applicable.
  • Candidates need to furnish their detailed educational qualification.
  • The choice of exam language has to be provided by candidates. In case of any difference/ discrepancy/dispute in the questions between English and the opted language, the content of English version shall prevail.
  • If the candidate is eligible for more than one post based on his/her educational qualification and other details furnished, he/she must set the priority/preferences for these posts.
